Key Forms for LDCs

Local distribution companies (LDCs) have a number of unique reporting requirements that relate to customer rebates and embedded generation within their service areas. The deadline for all settlement data reporting described below is the fourth business day after the end of the month, except the Ontario Power Generation (OPG) Rebate. The submission timelines for reporting OPG Rebate settlement data is listed on the OPG Rebate page.

All LDC settlement data is now submitted using the IESO Portal.  Authorised users can access the portal at: https://portal.ieso.ca.

Embedded Generation and Regulated Price Information (Formerly Form 1598)

Local distribution companies must provide information about energy use by their customers on the Regulated Price Plan (RPP).

Submission of Transmission Service Charges for Embedded Generation (Formerly Form 1564)

LDCs need to report annual Line and Transformation Connection Service Charges for embedded generation applicable to the host transmission customer.  Host transmission customers with an embedded generation facility that meet the requirements set out in Chapter 6, section 4.5.1 of the market rules, and that choose to comply with the alternative metering installation standards for embedded generation in Chapter 6 section 4.5, will need to submit data within three months following the calendar year-end, March 31.

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) Rebate

The OPG rebate is based on revenues above a set price for OPG’s "non-prescribed" or unregulated generation. The IESO manages the settlement of the OPG Rebate and disperses these funds to customers who pay the wholesale market price, for example those not on the Regulated Price Plan. Some non-Regulated Price Plan customers with a retailer contract may not receive this rebate depending on their contract provisions.

The following are two LDC settlement reporting requirements for the OPG Rebate:

  • Submission of Information Required for Ontario Power Generation Rebate (formerly form 1535) used to determine the proportional amount of the rebate to allocate to each LDC.
  • Ontario Power Generation Rebate Returned to the IESO (formerly form 1556) used to process the OPG Rebate returns.
