IESO Resources Related Information
ReliabilityThrough this Outlook, the IESO reports on the progress of the inter-related generation, transmission, and demand-management projects underway to meet future reliability requirements. Map: Ontario Supply PDFMap: Smart Metering PDF As Reliability Coordinator, Balancing Authority and Planning Coordinator for Ontario, the IESO is committed to working with market participants as well as national and international organizations to improve electricity reliability throughout North America. Improvements to reliability in part come from advocating stronger, more effective, enforceable and mandatory reliability standards. The IESO works closely with market participants to develop, improve, monitor and enforce reliabliity standards. Currently in Ontario, there are a growing number of generation, transmission and conservation and demand management (CDM) projects underway to meet future needs. The IESO is responsible for maintaining reliability throughout this transition, working with system planners, forecasting demand and supply, and reporting on the progress of projects that impact the power grid. In addition, the IESO supports outage planning with regular assessments of possible outage windows based on short-term forecasts of system adequacy. |
