New SBG Forecast Report (SE-98)

The IESO is proposing changes to the current Surplus Baseload Generation (SBG) forecast to provide some additional information such as forecast export volumes and a minimum generation alert status.

The proposal also includes separating the existing report into two reports as follows:

  • a short-term report including an hourly forecast for the next 10 days that would be updated daily and published by 15:00, two hours earlier than the current report; and
  • a near-term report including a daily forecast for days 11 to 60 that would be updated weekly and published by 15:00 on Thursday with the weekly Security and Adequacy Assessments (SAA).

These two reports would replace the existing single report and would continue to be published in xml format.

The purpose of this initiative is to understand how stakeholders use the current SBG report and what changes would be helpful.

For more information on this stakeholder initiative, email stakeholder.engagement@ieso.ca.
