Load Following Standard (SE-38)Ontario is entering a time when we expect to see changes to the generation supply mix. Under the direction of the provincial government, the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) plans to replace coal-fired generation and address growing demand with a number of demand and supply side initiatives. In addition to the issues identified in the June 2006 Ontario Reliability Outlook, we are studying the potential impact of proposed supply mix changes on the 'load following' capability of dispatchable resources in Ontario. The IESO is seeking stakeholder input on the development of a Load Following Standard. The Ontario Power Authority will have the most interest in this standard as the portfolio of demand and supply side initiatives in Ontario is expanded. For more information, see the Stakeholder Plan below Stakeholder Engagement Plan (Draft) For more information on this stakeholder initiative or to participate in the next meeting, email stakeholder.engagement@ieso.ca.
